Location

Villaricos is a traditional Spanish village on the Mediterranean coastline in the region of Almeria.

The village is charming, a tranquil seaside village. There is a small supermarket, bank and several lovely restaurants and tapas bars, together with beach bars on the sandy Mediterranean beaches. The village of Villaricos has two harbours, one at each end and the fishing boats leave and return daily with their catches.

This is a truely lovely village in which to have a holiday property. The beaches are a very short walk and all the amenities are within a couple of minutes from the apartment. There is no need for a car as everything can be reached by foot.

With a history that dates back to Neolithic times, Villaricos was once a great Phoenician port. In the 19th century the village was a silver mining town and now it is a very pretty traditional fishing village. The village has a thriving local community and a traditional rhythm, every Sunday there is a colourful market. Villaricos is full of charm and vitality, it has an old fashioned simplicity and a warm friendly atmosphere.

The larger towns of Almeria, Vera, Lorca and Aguillas are all within a 20 minute drive. The scenery is dramatic as the Mediterranean has carved out beaches and coves of soft yellow sand against the dark volcanic cliffs.
