Facilities at Desert Springs

Par 72 championship golf course,USGA specifications for a unique golfing experience.  There is a Golf Academy with fantastic facilities to help golfers to improve all aspects of their game.  The course is both demanding and exhilarating offering a variety of shot making challenges to test the skill level of every player, from the beginner to professional.

The immaculate fairways are set amongst massive rocky outcrops, arroyos and dry river beds. The vivid contrast of the 'desert springs' and the emerald green fairways with the arid landscape of cactus, rock and flowering desert, is stunning throughout the year.

The whole golfing vision is framed within a panorama of landmark mountain ranges.

The Sierra Sports and Fitness Club

The club has been mentored by double Olympic decathlon champion, Daley Thompson - a villa owner at Desert Springs - and is aimed at providing general fitness and well being.

With the warm winter conditions, the club is well suited to pre-season general fitness, team bonding and re-habilitation after sports injuries.

Crocodile Club Almeria SpainThe 'Croc' Restaurant

The Croc showcases an eclectic menu of Mediterranean, Pacific Rim and Thai dishes, along with fresh fish and grills, Pastas and pizzas and Desert hamburgers; lots for kids and something special for the adults.

Tables are available in the restaurant around the open fire or on the terraces or outside in the semi-secluded terraced garden. The restaurant is open for lunch and/or dinner according to the season.

The Rosewood Bar

The bar is made of huge trunks of old dried rosewood from the Namibian desert and features a circular sitting out area; an open sided, canvas windowed "Rondavel Look Out”.  This is the key meeting place for early, and indeed not so early, evening drinks on the resort and features a delicious selection of 'croctails'.

El Chiringuito

Serving light lunches and a range of superb healthy fruit punches, the pool bar is a great place to dine.

The Cave Bar

La Cueva del Almanzora is an original refurbished cave  with a really cool bar offering an extraordinary private meeting room and exclusive and atmospheric private dining facilities in its underground gallery.

Crocodile Club Almeria SpainThe Crocodile Club

The thatched African longhouse of 'The Crocodile Club' is the centre for families.  Parents will find the cool misty 'natural' rock-set swimming pools, jacuzzi, sun lawns and pool bar of the Croc a perfect alternative to the local beaches, and kids will love the sand play bunkers, kick around areas and games room.

The Crocodile Pools and Sun Lawns

The large irregular shaped main pool, chilling out pool and jacuzzi are set within natural rock, cascades and plants, and are cooled by an occasional fine mist. The main pool features underwater music and has a contra current to swim against.

The fresh 'desert springs' water, treated by a saline purification system, is free of eye stinging chlorine, and is a delight for young and old. The pools are surrounded by cool grass sun bathing lawns, where families and friends can enjoy relaxed semi-private days.

Sand Play Bunkers

At the family-oriented Croc Club, there are three very large sand-filled play bunkers, complete with an exciting wooden house on stilts, lots of forum style platforms, wobbly bridge, slides, scrambling nets and rocks.

There is also a completely separate toddler's play area and a separate young children’s pool, with its own cascade, but these have been recently taken over by a large crocodile, fortunately rather shaky and extremely affable.  Happily, you can watch over your little ones from the safety and extreme comfort of the Rondavel.

The Crocodile’s World Championship Mini – Golf

Spain’s only world championship quality mini-golf course and model car racing track is now well under construction at the rear of the Crocodile Club. Those who have visited the Croc Club and looked out to the sea from the barbecue terrace may well have wondered what the crazy maze of odd shaped walls rising in the foreground was about.

Well, these form the skeleton of the rocky mountains, wild rivers, canyons and caverns that will test the skills of the world’s top mini-golfers as they play the super-tough El Cocodrilo Course, in their bid to become the one and only World Champion Mini-Golfer.
